The Witches Den

Once upon a time not long ago, when people liked to wear Adidas and live life slow. Mr Lindsay and the Fraulein attended the Hamburg Dom on a Saturday eve. Whilst slightly hungover from beer pong practice the night before, our adventurers valiantly struggled on through the crowd of Fischbrotchen and Candy floss devouring commoners .

In the shadow of a monstrous Flak Tower was The Hamburg Dom. This is large fair where young Germans like to go for awkward first dates. Families are also there, to provide suitable background noise and recreation activities for their offspring. To take all of their monies are The Carnies, whom I am lead to believe travel around Germany full-time doing cheap tricks, making people motion sick and selling sugar, candy floss and gherkins. Yes there were two stores selling only gherkins. Even I can think of better ways to launder money. Poor bastards. Afterwards all The Carnies laugh all the way to Deutsche Bank with a sack of Euro as all their rides cost around 3.5 Euro. Thats about $5,000 New Zealand Dollars per event of motion sickness... or gherkin.

The adventurers being fair too cool and grown up for such an event, decided to only briefly pass through this feeding frenzy. It was also the Hamburg Museum night, which is where one can get a ticket for all the Museums at once and then bore themselves to death by going to only two before their feet get too sore. However surely such a high cultural activity would be time better spent than the bright lights and thrills of the kindergarten.

Having almost completed one circuit without expenditure of coin, they came across The Witches Village. Centered in the middle of the Carnival. This was full of alter Frauen in witches attire. Straw covered the ground and fires lite the drinking hall.

Still reeling from the after affects of their recreation potion the eve before, it was time for sustenance in the form of flammkuchen and bier. Having made there purchase they were beset by the sirens call of Dudelzwerge, German folk metal extraordinaries.

Dudelzwerg

I was rather content listening to German Folk Metal with a bier in hand, WW2 structure in the hinter. The Fraulein once again subject to my obscure taste in music.

After the wine and song were finished, the scariest ride they could find AKA Skywolf conquered and a narrow escape from The Illusionists Den, it was nigh midnight and time for the museums.

Midnights pretty late on a hangover so they bravely strategically withdrew to the castle.

Oh well the museums can wait, inner child won that day. I have no regrets. Go to The Dom, its awesome.
